The Fishing: Virtually every method of blue water sportfishing can be pursued in the amazing waters off the Andaman Islands.
Trolling :
This widely used method will almost certainly result in encounters with both Blue and Black Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo and Dorado.
Jigging:
Jigging is one of the most popular and productive methods regularly practiced by visitors. This fascinating tactic simply can’t fail to produce excellent results with ocean middleweights such as specimen Dogtooth Tuna, Giant Trevally, massive Groupers and several other fishy favourites. Day or night, this method is solid gold in the Andamans!
Popper-Casting:
This energetic but highly productive and incredibly exciting tactic is virtually guaranteed to produce outstanding sport with the ever-popular Giant Trevallies that abound in the shallow waters surrounding offshore reefs and islets. Nothing can compare with the thrill of seeing that huge mouth engulf a well-presented popper.
Bottom Fishing:
Bottom fishing enthusiasts will be in their element in the Andaman Islands. The well-worn fishing expression, “A Fish Every Drop” certainly applies to a night session of bottom fishing in the Andaman Islands. Red Bass, Snappers, Groupers and a vast assortment of obscure bottom dwellers simply can’t refuse anything offered to them! The trick is to get your fish to the boat without it becoming eaten or severely mutilated by sharks! If shark fishing appeals to you – the Andaman Islands must be your idea of heaven!
Fly Fishing:
There are numerous mangrove creeks throughout the archipelago. These glorious eco-systems are vital to the health of the island’s inshore inhabitants. They not only represent ideal breeding areas and “nurseries” for the fry of numerous coastal fish species and invertebrates - they also provide the perfect habitat for desirable gamefish - such as Barramundi and Mangrove Jacks.
Although the creeks are yet to be explored, many eminent anglers expect the creeks to offer “classic” sport for saltwater fly fishing enthusiasts.
